This includes but is not limited to trauma, forensic concerns, comorbid diagnoses involving substance abuse, employee assistance matters, faith-based issues, and life transitions.

About the CEO

Sheron Steward, Ph.D.

Sheron Steward proudly served with the last women to graduate into the Women’s Army Corp. She served her country with the first group of female soldiers allowed to train alongside fellow male counterparts, which set the stage for military service equality.

Post-military, she received her undergraduate training while providing educational services to soldiers in Heidelberg, Germany. Sheron broke through another barrier by becoming the first certified female USAREUR wrestling referee. She supported and traveled with soldiers who competed for the US Army in Europe.

Working With the Government

Upon returning to the USA, Sheron was hired by the Federal Bureau of Investigation at Headquarters in Washington, D.C. She served as a clerk for three months.

It was then that she realized career opportunities were very limited for support personnel. She submitted a suggestion directly to the Director of the FBI on how to retain support staff and improve their career ladder options. Director Webster, the FBI director at that time, authorized her to be promoted four grades overnight to develop and manage the FBI’s first Career Development Program nationwide.

Under FBI Director Sessions, Sheron was asked to develop, improve, and expand behavioral health-related services to approximately 22 000 agents and support staff, to include their families worldwide. Her position, Employee Assistance Program Executive Administrator, was created and she was given the authority to “clean house.”

She worked with all of the national field offices and overseas locations to identify all employees who were impaired due to substance abuse and/or other mental health concerns and traumas. In addition, she was required to contribute to the performance appraisals of the Supervisory Special Agents-In-Charge at field offices based on their support for the improvement of the emotional health of their staff.

Sheron soon worked with the Undercover Unit, provided support to the Hostage Rescue Team, and worked with the Quantico Staff. In 1994, she became a contributor to the US Department of Justice FBI publication called Law Enforcement Families: Issues and Answers.

A Helping Hand to Those in Need

When Hurricane Andrew devastated Southern Louisiana, Sheron was asked to consider developing mental health care and incorporating it into a primary care clinic. This request came from a community health center located in a very rural sugar cane farming and seafood community.

During that time, the concept of blending primary health care with behavioral health care was not embraced. Nevertheless, Sheron accepted the challenge, developed the program, and taught the concept at a National Association of Community Health Centers conference.

Starting the Company

In 1999, Sheron opened SRF Consulting, LLC. She purchased a property where the buildings had been abandoned between two housing units in Franklin, Louisiana. The property housed a bar for more than 80 years and was a place where soldiers who survived war and other local patrons were murdered.

Accounts also show that many families were destroyed, became addicted, and suffered many traumas on the property. Moreover, the crime rate was extremely high and law enforcement officers were unsafe to respond to calls in the area.

Now, families are able to receive ministry support through Glory Ministries, a nonprofit 501 (c) (3) organization. People also receive counseling services. Judges, probation and parole officers, and other medical providers send clients for treatment.

Dr. Sheron Steward used the skills she acquired to transform a section of a community into a place of emotional refuge and recovery. With her selflessness and dedication, many people found a second chance at life and were able to recover and move on.
